A very early (late 1930s- early 1940s) sideboard designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar. This piece is a testament to his design philosophy of embracing new and holding onto what is true- this sideboard is no exception; it blends a traditional and art deco influence seamlessly with early modernism. It features locking center doors concealing 4 drawers, with a drawer containing dividers sitting above. Each side is flanked by fabulous large heavy pulls to doors, with the left side having two adjustable shelves (one is a half shelf) and the right side having two adjustable shelves. A top either side is a drawer. The unique shape with enlarged center section and molding like trim above the top completes this piece. Cabinet is unmarked but catalog picture attached. Center measures 18.25” deep, sides are 17” deep Other notable designers from the period include Tommi Parzinger, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Harvey Probber, etc
