A Very stylized, Mid Century Modern, Historic bust, by sculptor John for Schillaci, circa 1964, for Austin Productions. Scillaci, sculpted for Austin Prods during the 1950s and 1960s. This. 1964 bust of John F. Kennedy is one of his notable works. The piece is very heavy, cast bronzed plaster The bust was produced by Austin Productions, a company known for creating decorative objects and sculptures. This particular bust, captures the not just an extraordinary likeness of the 35th U.S. President it captures his essence, a quiet humility, much like his official portrait in the National Gallery It was created just months after his assassination on Nov 22, 1963 As a child l remember owning this artwork and how it was displayed with a sense of reverence and honor It’s a spectacular, significant, historic, modern addition to a mid century home. It was created in the classical style of Ancient Greek and Roman portraiture, yet retains a very modernist design This work of art, will likely become a family heirloom as it did in my family
