Heshi Yu Abstract Cityscape/Village Naive Chinese Modernist Oil Painting on Canvas. Signed Delightful, intricately detailed, vividly hued, modernist village by Chinese-American artist Heshi Yu (b. 1935) This painting is part of a highly collectible series depicting this village from various perspectives, keeping the same color palette and finely detailed brushstrokes. Measurements 36" W x 30" H x 1.5" D In very nice condition Canvas stretched on wooden frame ABOUT THE ARTIST Heshi Yuwas born in Shandong in 1935. He graduated from the Art Department of National Taiwan Normal University. In 1946, he traveled to France to further his studies at l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1968, he moved to New York and devoted himself to creation. A work of his of the 1970s was selected by Lincoln Center to make a serigraph to celebrate the bicentenary of America. Mixed media, acrylic and ink are used in his works. Through the concept to modern painting, Mr.Yu blended the find art's tradition of Chinese and Western. He created his unique style and became one of the more attentive Chinese painters active in the New York art world.
