An elegant modernist armchair by Bertha Schaefer for M. Singer & Sons. Completely restored with a chenille type fabric, new foam, and refinished tapered solid mahogany legs. Chair was acquired with original upholstery, and as such, tags were transferred upon reupholstery. Bertha Schaefer is an award winner from MoMA and worked beside other designers to include Gio Ponti, Carlo di Carli, and Ico Parisi. This particular chair is very reminiscent of works by Edward Wormley in both quality and design. Other notable designers from the period include T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Harvey Probber, etc Measures: 36” tall 32” deep 30” wide 18.5” seat height.
