Original Oversized 1971 Piatti Muhammad Ali Frazier Boxing Exhibition Poster Rare Original 70s Oversized Iconic Graphic Art Cubist 1971 Celestino Piatti Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier Boxing Exhibition Poster This original, oversized, offset lithograph exhibition poster, called "The Fight" was created by award winning, Swiss graphic artist, Celestino Piatti in 1971 The World Heavyweight Boxing Championship Match, was also dubbed. "The Fight of the Century". The match was between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The live event was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but in a rare telecast, it was simultaneously broadcast, live, via close cuicuit TV to the 142nd Street Armory of Harlem, in Manhattan. This was the first time Ali and Frazier were paired up with each other. Frazier won the title by an unanimous decision, thus making this, Mohammed Ali's, first professional defeat. Piatti was commissioned to design a poster advertising a rare closed-circuit live screening of a sporting event This poster was produced for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), which hosted the only Harlem screening of the fight. The fight has been considered the most legendary boxing event in history and this poster, awarded the prize, "Best Swiss Poster of the Year", is considered the one of the most iconic exhibition poster in sporting history "The Fight." was published by Darien House, New York, 1971 Measurements 45" H x 30" W Very rare, original Sporting and Mid Century Modern graphic work of art CONDITION NOTES; As seen in my photos, there is some yellowing approximately 1/2" around the perimeter of the image. There are also some minor creases on corners and a little on edges. No tears Any creases or bubbles will be corrected when the poster is dry mounted to an acid free board by your framer The 1/2" of yellowing can be covered by using a matte when framing or a frame with a wide 1/2"-1" lip that covers the perimeter of the image Once framed, the poster will display beautifully I recommend using only non-glare glass with a UV filter Regular glare glass will turn the artwork into a mirror, reflecting everything? especially light sources In very overall nice vintage condition commensurate with age.
