Large, vintage, Curtis Jere, signed and dated, metal wall sculpture of the iconic dramatic comedy and tragedy masks. The masks are welded together. Facial features are highlighted in compounded roughed-in black metal This mid-century modern design features the smiling mask, Thalia, the Greek muse of comedy, and the frowning mask, Melpomene, the Greek muse of tragedy. The comedy and tragedy masks are a well-known symbols of the theater, representing the two main genres of ancient Greek drama: comedy and tragedy. The sculpture is signed by Jere and dated 1995 The piece is large and substantial, measuring 3.5 Ft long x over 2 Ft high The 3” depth of the sculpture creates added artistic shadows by ambient light In very nice vintage condition Measurements 41” L x 26” H x 3” Deep
